3. Walk in the footsteps of the Romans
Directly behind the harbour is the Paphos Archaeological Park, a complex of luxury villas built by the Romans and only discovered in the 1960s by a farmer ploughing his field. Only a small part of this huge site has been excavated, so chances are you will see real archaeology in action as students work on new sites all summer. It’s a great site for kids to run around and explore, but always bring a hat and clean water – there isn’t much shade in the middle of the day except under the roofs of the excavated covered villas.
4. Fascinating fish or super-fast slides
If the story isn’t for the kids, head to the Aquarium town, where they can watch the fish without getting wet, or the Paphos Aphrodite water park, where it’s hard to keep them dry for more than 30 seconds! The park’s flagship attraction is the giant five-lane water slide where the whole family can run on huge inflatable tires, howling and howling! For the little ones, there is a separate water park for children. One of the great advantages of a villa vacation in Paphos is that when you return from the water park, you can wash and dry all of these wet towels and bathing suits, rather than draping them over a hotel bathtub or balcony.
